Clinic Member Karen Vaughn Recognized as a Pillar of Professionalism

The Got Pro Award is given monthly to a student who exemplifies the ideals of professionalism, in all their interactions and service to the Charlotte Law community. Clinic member Karen Vaughn is last month’s winner.

Karen is a spring start 3L in her second semester with the Civil Rights Clinic. She is originally from Minnesota but has called North Carolina home for fourteen years. She is the mother of three and a former teacher for the North Carolina school system.  Karen’s passion is education law but would be thrilled to work in any area of law that assists marginalized populations.  Her legal career involves working for The Council for Children’s Rights, and Legal Aid of NC. Karen’s most significant work in the Clinic as been to create a project that trains students to be hearing officers at Section 8 termination hearings.

Congratulations Karen!
